todays project,cleaning up the sewing room.

lets face it... this will NEVER happen for me,but we can still dream ,right?anywais important to keep our pins cleaned up so this knifty "pincushion from a mason jar" is really helpful

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
all you need is an old mason jar,some scrap fabric,and stuffing.
so your mason jar should have a lid in two parts,the flat piece and the one that screws onto the jar's body.
seperate the two and place the stuffing and fabric scrap inbetween the two to create the pincushion top
trim the edges of the scrap material.now the bottom and the top seperate as one lid and one body.you can store buttons,thread,or any other sewing notions you can think of in the body piece. enjoy and good luck cleaning up that sewing room!
chevron pattern pillow
a few weeks ago i found out what a chevron was,after thinking it was some kind of foreign car company i was happy to know it was a really cool pattern.so i became obsessed with it and this was one of the first things i went and did.
so all you need is
*a small pillow
*fabric paint
*paper
*pins
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
first take your paper and cut out the chevron pattern,you can make them long or short because it is a really versatile pattern(i went with the long stripes)this is a basic chevron pattern
after you have enough chevrons cut out at the right size to fit the pillow,pin them on using a method that leaves a gap inbetween .this is the part you will paint
afte the pillow is painted remove the paper,if you stayed between the lines you will have a crisp look to your stripes.allow to dry overnight.
so there you have it ,another tutorial from sew as i go that doesn't involve sewing (;

cute bulletin boards

i found out about about these cute corkboards in 4-h my kindergarden year,my 1st one had animals and noahs ark buttons.it was cute and i realized how far id come in crafting since kindergarden.
     so basically i covered a small corkboard tile with a 1/4 yard of fabric.embellishments like lace and buttons added a vintage look wich are really easy to hot glue on.it keeps everything organized for me,from penpal letters to sheet music
